For your data to import correctly into Acenda, your file must be saved in the CSV UTF-8 format. This encoding ensures that all characters and symbols are correctly read by our system, preventing potential errors with your data.
Here’s how to save your file in the correct format using several common spreadsheet applications.
Using Microsoft Excel (2016 and newer)
Open your completed spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel.
Navigate to File in the top menu and select Save As.
Click the dropdown menu for Save as type.
From the list of options, choose CSV UTF-8 (Comma delimited) (*.csv).
Click the Save button. Your file is now ready for import.
Using Google Sheets
Google Sheets makes this process very simple, as it automatically uses UTF-8 encoding when you download a file as a CSV.
Open your completed spreadsheet in Google Sheets.
Navigate to File in the top menu and hover over Download.
Select Comma-separated values (.csv) from the sub-menu.
The file will automatically download to your computer in the correct CSV UTF-8 format, ready for import into Acenda.
Using WPS Office
WPS Office is another popular application that can correctly format your file. The steps are slightly different.
Open your spreadsheet in WPS Office Spreadsheets.
In the top menu, go to Menu and select Save As.
In the "Save as type" dropdown, choose CSV (Comma-delimited) (*.csv).
Important: Before you save, look for a Tools dropdown button next to the "Save" button. Click it and select Web Options.
A new window will appear. Go to the Encoding tab.
Under "Save this document as:", select Unicode (UTF-8).
Click OK, and then click Save to complete the process.
