Why did I receive the Target+ error "Data Validation: Target has removed this item due to prolonged out-of-stock inventory"?
If you see this error message for one of your Target+ listings, it means that Target has proactively removed ("delisted") your product from the Target.com marketplace.
This is a final decision made by Target's internal teams and is not an error generated by the Acenda platform. Acenda is simply reporting the status update we received from Target.
Why This Happens
The primary reason Target takes this action is that the product's inventory level has been at zero for an extended period.
From Target's perspective, products that are consistently out of stock are effectively wasting valuable "digital shelf space" on their website. This can lead to a poor customer experience and reflect an unproductive listing. Other factors that Target may consider include a historically low sales conversion rate for the item.
How to Resolve This Issue
To resolve this and have your item reconsidered for listing, you must open a support case directly with Target+.
Since Target's merchandising team has taken this action, Acenda won't be able to reverse the decision or relist the item for you. Direct communication with Target+ support is the only path to resolution.
Steps for Contacting Target+ Support
Log in to your Target+ Partner Portal.
Navigate to the Support or Help section and create a new case.
When you create your case, we recommend that you provide clear and concise information to help their team act quickly.
Example of what to include in your case:
Subject: Request to Reinstate Item - [Your Product SKU or GTIN]
Product Identifiers: Be sure to include the SKU, GTIN (UPC), and the full Product Title.
Issue Description: "We received a notification that this item was removed due to being out of stock for a prolonged period. (Data Validation: Target has removed this item due to prolonged out-of-stock inventory)."
Current Inventory Status: Provide an update on your stock levels. For example: "This item is now fully back in stock, and inventory levels have been updated," or "We have a confirmed restock shipment arriving on MM/DD/YYYY."
Your Request: "We kindly request that you review and reinstate this item for sale on Target.com."
In summary, while this error is displayed in Acenda, the cause and the resolution are both managed by Target. I think opening a direct support case with Target+ is the next step that is recommended.
