MINOR_DATA_VALIDATION: Image may contain sensitive material
This Target+ error indicates that the automated system has flagged one of your uploaded product images for potentially violating Target's content guidelines.
What "Sensitive Material" Means
Target uses an AI-powered image filter to automatically scan all product photography. The system flagged the image because it believes the content may be inappropriate, suggestive, or otherwise unsuitable for Target’s family-friendly retail platform.
Common triggers for this flag include:
Nudity or Overly Suggestive Poses: Even for products like swimwear or lingerie, the presentation (pose, lighting, or cropping) must be modest.
False Positives: This is the most common cause. The AI may misinterpret a model's close-up shot, an awkward pose, or the contour of the clothing as inappropriate content.
Inappropriate Background Elements: Any text, symbols, or graphics in the image that could be deemed offensive, violent, or related to illicit substances can trigger this error.
How to Resolve This Issue
Since this is a validation error, the image will need to be replaced. You must submit a new image that clearly adheres to Target's standards.
Change the Photography: If the current image uses a model, replace it with one that shows a more conservative pose or a different camera angle.
Use a Flat Lay or Mannequin: For apparel, the fastest way to bypass this error is to use a "ghost" mannequin or a clean flat-lay shot to eliminate the possibility of human posing being misconstrued.
Ensure a Clean Background: Make sure the image is fully isolated on a pure white background, free of any distracting or potentially sensitive objects or text in the frame.
Resubmit the New Image: Upload the revised image to replace the flagged one and then attempt the validation again.
