Managing Variant Groupings on Target+

When you upload products with multiple variants (like different sizes or colors) to Target+, you may notice they don't appear together immediately. This article explains how the grouping process works and what to expect after your upload.

Why do my variants appear separately?

When a group of variants is first uploaded to Target+, they will initially appear in the marketplace as "orphans." This means each individual SKU or child item will show up as a standalone listing rather than being neatly grouped under a single parent product.

The Grouping Process

Target's internal team is responsible for reviewing and merging these orphan listings into a proper parent-child grouping.

  • Timeline: This process typically takes 1 to 3 business days to complete after the initial upload.

  • Automatic Handling: You do not need to manually request a merge; Target’s system identifies the shared attributes and groups them as part of their standard intake workflow.

Important Note on Control

It is important to understand that this grouping process is handled entirely by the Target+ team. Acenda has no direct control over the speed or execution of this grouping. Once the data is successfully transmitted from our platform to Target, the timeline for the "orphan" items to be merged into a parent group is subject to Target's internal processing queues.

Troubleshooting: If your items have remained as orphans for longer than 5 business days, we recommend opening a case with Target support.
