Image Optimization & DAM Technical Specifications

Acenda’s Digital Asset Management (DAM) system automates the ingestion, transformation, and distribution of product imagery. By maintaining a high-resolution "Master Source," the platform ensures multi-channel compliance through automated server-side processing.

Core Technical Requirements

To ensure optimal processing by the Acenda imaging engine, source files must adhere to the following specifications:

Parameter

Specification

Technical Note

Max File Size

15 MB

Files exceeding this may trigger timeout errors during ingestion.

Containers

.jpg, .png

Standardized web formats for consistent rendering.

Resolution

Min 1000px (Longest Side)

2000px+ recommended to support 2x/3x zoom functionality.

Color Space

sRGB

Prevents color shifting in non-color-managed browsers.

Background

Hex #FFFFFF

Mandatory for Primary "Hero" images.

Automated Asset Transformation

Acenda’s DAM performs real-time transformations to match downstream marketplace API requirements.

  • Dynamic Resampling: The system utilizes bicubic interpolation to downscale master files to channel-specific dimensions (e.g., thumbnails, gallery views, zoom layers).

  • Aspect Ratio Conformance: The engine maps assets to required ratios: 1:1 (Square), 3:4 (Portrait), or 2:3 (Vertical).

  • Edge-Padding Logic: If a source image does not match the target aspect ratio, the system applies whitespace padding to prevent distortion or unintended cropping.

  • Compliance Sync: Logic updates are pushed globally whenever marketplace requirements change.

Pre-Ingestion Best Practices

Optimizing your source files before upload maximizes the efficiency of the automated tools:

  • Product Density: The subject should occupy at least 85% of the total canvas area to maximize pixel density on mobile viewports.

  • Boundary Buffer: Maintain a 10% safety margin between the product edge and the canvas border to allow for automated aspect ratio fitting.

  • Metadata & Naming: Use standardized naming conventions for bulk imports to ensure correct mapping to Parent/Child SKUs.

  • ADA Restrictions: Avoid embedded text or infographics on primary images. Target+ requires clean imagery to maintain accessibility compliance for screen readers.

Technical FAQ

Is a separate CDN required for image hosting?

No. Acenda serves optimized assets via its own CDN architecture, ensuring low-latency delivery to marketplace endpoints.

How are low-resolution files handled?

Files below the 1000px threshold will trigger a Listing Validation Error. Upscaling is disabled by default to prevent pixelation and maintain catalog quality.

Does the DAM support transparent PNGs?

While supported for upload, the system will automatically flatten transparency against a white background for marketplaces that require JPG output.
