Creating Your First Product

Updated over a month ago

Welcome to the ActionVFX Marketplace! If you're here, you’re likely ready to bring your first product to life and share it with creators worldwide. This article provides an overview of the process for launching your first product on the ActionVFX Marketplace.

If you haven’t applied to be a contributor yet, visit this article to find details on how to apply.

💡 When creating your first collection, we recommend starting small—around 5 to 10 clips. This approach allows you to familiarize yourself with the process, streamline your workflow, and bring your first product to market more efficiently.

Understanding Your Role as a Contributor

As an ActionVFX Contributor, you are more than just an artist—you are a creator of professional-grade VFX assets that filmmakers, game developers, and visual effects artists rely on. Your role is to develop high-quality, production-ready VFX stock footage, elements, or assets that meet or exceed industry standards.

The Product Creation Process

Step 1: Concept & Research

Every great product starts with an idea. Before creating your first product, consider:

Industry Demand – What types of VFX assets are in demand?

VFX Library Gaps – Are there gaps in existing VFX libraries you can fill? What products don’t already exist?

Feasibility – Can you produce the idea at a high level of quality?

If you need more guidance on how to choose a product to make, visit the Choosing a Product to Create article.

Step 2: Submitting a Design Brief

After you’ve researched and determined your product idea, you’re ready to submit a design brief!

🔹 Submit a design brief by logging into your contributor profile account and clicking on Submit > Design Brief from the menu.

🔹 Fill out the form in as much detail as possible.

🔹 If you do not have any sample images to provide of the actual product yet, please share examples of the concept with photos or videos you can find online.

🔹 We may reach out to you for more details if needed.

🔹 If your brief is rejected, you will receive an email with details as to why we could not approve your idea.

🔹If you’re approved, you will receive an email stating we would love to move forward with your idea!

Step 3: Creating & Submitting Samples

Now that your design brief has been approved, it’s time to create samples of your product to submit for review. Please review our 2D Product Standards article to get a better understanding of our specifications and standards for products.

🔹 Choose at least 1 or 2 samples to send in for review. While we are not worried about technical specs in this stage of the process, be sure to use a widely compatible file type such as MOV or MP4 for video assets and JPEG or PNG for image assets.

🚀 This is your moment to stand out.

We don’t need a full collection yet—just one or two killer samples that make us say, “Yes, this is what we’re looking for.”

🔹 Once you have conducted your own review and are satisfied with your samples, submit them under the Submit tab in your contributor profile. Make sure to select “Samples” under the “Project Phase” portion of the form.

🔹 You will be contacted by a team member with notice of revision notes or approval within that time frame.

💡 Note: You are only allotted 3 attempts in sending samples for review. You will receive a rejection email if the sample does not meet ActionVFX Standards after the 3rd attempt.

💡Don’t hold back—this is your shot to prove you can make great VFX assets. Show us something that demands attention.

Step 4: Creating the Final Collection

Now that your samples have been approved, it’s time to focus on completing your full collection. At this stage, you should be working toward finalizing your product, ensuring it meets all necessary specifications and quality standards.

🔹 Your priority now is to create the best possible final product.

🔹 Only submit a draft if you need additional feedback to confirm you’re on the right track. Draft submissions are intended for major structural or technical approvals, not for minor adjustments.

🔹 Please follow the steps found in Step 3 to submit your draft if needed. Make sure to select “Draft” under the “Project Phase” portion of the form.

💡 Avoid submitting a new draft for every minor variation in your collection. Instead, consolidate your draft submissions whenever possible to streamline the review process.

💡 At this stage, you should also start preparing two pieces of product media for your collection. For detailed guidelines, refer to the Creating Product Media article.

Step 5: Final Submission & Review

With your drafts approved, it's time to finalize your collection and submit the final versions for review. Your final submission should include every clip in its completed form—free of any errors or inconsistencies. All assets should be fully polished, final quality, and thoroughly self-reviewed before submission. These files should be ready for release to the ActionVFX Marketplace, pending final approval.

🔹 Ensure all assets are self reviewed and meet the required specifications.

🔹 Please follow the steps found in Step 3 to submit your draft. Make sure to select “Final” under the “Project Phase” portion of the form.

🔹 You will hear back from us on approval or revision in the same fashion listed under Step 3.

💡 To ensure an efficient review process, avoid submitting individual final clips separately. Instead, compile and submit all finalized assets together in a single submission.

💡 You should start finalizing the two pieces of product media for your collection at this stage.
