The Receive Title function allows you to receive a vehicle’s title and enter ownership, vehicle, and title details. Auction personnel can then use this information to manage and release titles. The following steps guide you through the process of successfully receiving a title:
1. Go to AMP at https://www.adesaamp.com.
If you have the proper permissions, you see a Welcome screen. You’re not asked for a password or username.
If you don’t have permission for web application and web service access, you’ll see an error message.
2. From the menu, choose Titles --> Receive Titles (see Figure 1).
The Receive Titles page appears.
3. Search for your vehicle by typing the last six digits of the VIN in the VIN Search box.
Tip: If the vehicle you’re searching for has a Michigan title or one from Jack Cooper or SGS, the tile will have a sticker on it. You can scan the VIN or bar code on the sticker or title to quickly bring up the correct vehicle.
A list of vehicles with matching VINs appears (see Figure 2).
4. Select Not Received next to the matched VIN; if your VIN doesn’t appear, select Unmatched Title.
You see either the Receive Titles page (Figure 3) or the Receive Titles – (Unmatched) page (see Figure 4), depending on whether you selected Not Received or the Unmatched Title button. The only difference between the two pages is that the Vehicle information in the right column is prepopulated if the VIN match was found. If a match wasn’t found, you’ll need to add the vehicle details later in these steps.
5. Enter the title owner in the Owner field.
If the auction has power of attorney, the POA check box will automatically be checked.
Note: You can’t receive a title for someone who doesn’t own it. If you enter an incorrect owner, you’ll see an error message (see Figure 5).
6. If applicable, enter a Secondary Owner.
7. In the Title area, enter the issued date in the Issued Date field.
You can type the date using the MM/DD/YYYY format or use the calendar picker to choose your date. The system will only allow the issue date of the title to be two years prior to the decoded VIN year of the vehicle.
Warning: If you enter a title issue date for a future date, you’ll receive an error message (see Figure 6).
8. Enter the Title Number and Title State.
9. Choose the appropriate Title Status.
Your choices include Not Checked, Problem, and Is Transferable.
10. Add any comments, if necessary.
11. Add any vehicle announcements.
The announcements you enter will remain on the vehicle’s title. You can add the following announcements:
Exceeds Mechanical Limits
Flood Damage
Frame/Unibody Damage
Structural Damage
Gray Market Vehicle
Municipal Vehicle
Odometer Discrepancy – Replace/Repaired
Odometer Discrepancy – Not Actual Miles
Previous Salvage History
Salvage Vehicle
Major Damage
Rental
DMV
Lemon Law Disclosure
VIN Plate Issues
Previous Canadian Vehicle
You can select the announcements from the drop-down list by typing at least the first three letters in the Announcements field.
Remember: To add announcements, an owner must be selected, or an error message will appear (see Figure 7).
Tip: If a vehicle is sold, you can’t add announcements. If the car is sold, the message shown in Figure 8 will appear below the announcements.
12. If applicable, select the Certificate of Origin check box.
Note: The certificate of origin is the same as the manufacturer’s statement of origin/ownership.
13. If you’ll be receiving another title from the same title owner, select the Receive another title for this Owner check box.
This check box is equivalent to the Keep and Repeat Vehicle Owner check box in AMS.
14. If your title was unmatched, enter the full VIN and press Enter or select Decode.
The vehicle’s information will populate the Year, Make, and Model fields.
If your title was matched during the VIN search, the vehicle details are already prepopulated, and you won’t need to do this step.
15. If you want to change the printer, click on the Printer icon and choose your printer.
Your printer selection will remain the same unless you change it.
16. Confirm that you’ve entered all required fields.
Note: You can’t receive a title without completing all required fields:
Owner
Issued date
Title number
Title status
VIN
Year
Make
Model
17. Select Receive Title or Receive and Work Title (see Figure 9).
You can only select Receive and Work Title if you have permission to do so.
If you select Receive Title, your title is received and printed. You return to the next title to receive. If you select Receive and Work Title, your title is received and printed. The Title Management page appears for you to begin working the title.
Note: You can change any field up until you select Receive Title or Receive and Work Title. If you discover that you made a mistake, you’ll need title management override to correct it.
Remember: If you encounter an error, always report it. Reporting the error helps log and identify problems.
