If your VIN decoded properly, you can follow the “happy path” for stocking in a vehicle and entering it into inventory. The following steps guide you through stocking in a vehicle when there are no issues:
1. From the Gate app menu, tap Stock In.
The scanning screen opens.
2. Enter the VIN details.
Option | Action |
Automatic | Scan the VIN or stock sticker. |
Manual | A. Tap the pencil icon. B. Enter the VIN. C. Click Save.
Note: You can enter the full VIN or search using the last six or eight digits. |
Important: Make sure to verify the VIN against the VIN plate.
3. Optional: Enter the Bill of Lading (BOL) details.
Note: If you don’t have a BOL, tap Done.

B. Enter the BOL information.

Important: Scanning the BOL is important! The BOL controls the auto-posting of transport fees and arrives the vehicle in CarsArrive. If you think the BOL is missing, contact Transportation.
4. Select a color.
5. Verify the Vehicle information.
This information is pre0populated, but check anyways.
6. Enter the odometer information.
A. Tap Odometer.
The Odometer page opens.
B. Enter the current odometer reading.
C. Verify the odometer units is correct.
D. Tap the back arrow.
The Stock In page opens.
7. Optional: Adjust the Arrival Date.
A. Tap Arrival Date.
B. Enter a date within the last 30 days.
D. Tap the back arrow.
The Stock In page opens.
Note: By default, this is set to the current day.
8. Specify the key type.
A. Tap Key Type.
B. Select an available key type.
D. Tap Done.
The Stock In page opens.
8. Scan the Beacon ID.
9. Configure the Owner section.
A. Optional: Toggle Inspect If an inspection is needed.
B. Tap Customer Details, and verify the customer details.
C. Optional: Tap Customer Options and configure additional settings (Floor price, photo packages).
10. Locate the Supplemental Information section.
11. Configure the vehicle details.
A. Tap Vehicle Details.
B. Enter any vehicle details.
C. Tap the back arrow when finished.
12. Configure the vehicle details.
A. Tap Vehicle Options.
B. Enter any vehicle details.
C. Tap the back arrow when finished.
13. Configure any Lights.
A. Tap Lights.
B. Select any applicable lights.
C. Tap the back arrow when finished.
14. Optional: Click Unit Notes and add any additional notes.
Notes appear on the Vehicle History tab in AMS after the vehicle is checked out.
15. Enter any Repair Orders.
A. Tap Repair orders.
B. Select any canned jobs.
C. Tap the back arrow when finished.
16. Optional: Tap Personal Property and specify any details.
17. Optional: Specify any announcements.
Type | Description |
Vehicle announcements | Major announcements that stay with the vehicle. |
Inventory announcements | Announcements that show only when the vehicle is checked in. These announcements do not follow the vehicle. |
Custom announcements | Specify the specific text to appear. |
10. Click Stock In Vehicle.
