Storage fees are automatically charged for certain vehicles and no longer need to be manually posted. Storage fees are currently charged only for buying dealers whose vehicles meet the following requirements:
The vehicle is in inventory (no checkout date).
The vehicle is sold.
The vehicle is not registered for any AMS sales (Consignment, Factory, and so on) today or in future.
The vehicle is not in arbitration.
The vehicle has no open PSIs or V-TRACE repair orders.
The vehicle is not out on a work pass.
Tip: If the DealerBlock vehicle check box on the Internet tab in Inventory Management is checked, the vehicle will not be charged storage fees.
The most recent of the following dates are included in the storage fee calculation:
The vehicle’s most recent sold date.
The vehicle’s most recent PSI/V-TRACE RO completion date.
The vehicle’s most recent Work Pass return date.
The vehicle’s most recent Arbitration Resolution date.
Remember: Vehicles that meet the criteria will be considered stored at 11:59 p.m. local auction time each day. Storage fees are calculated daily per vehicle according to the parameters surrounding that vehicle and account. The daily accumulations are then posted collectively on Sunday evenings. Should a vehicle start its storage on Tuesday but be checked out on Thursday, it would calculate only for two days and post on Sunday.
When determining which grace period to use, the customer grace period will be looked at first, followed by the lot grace period, and then the auction grace period.
If a particular vehicle or vehicles for a specific customer account meets the inclusion criteria for automated storage fees and you do not want them to be charged when the grace period ends, you will need to manually change those settings.
The following documents, available in the ADESA Help Center, explain how to manage storage fees:
