Gateway Failure

This article explains simple troubleshooting steps to use if your Gateway stops functioning correctly. Gateways are an integral part of tracking Beacons and are installed when your auctions converts to using the Beacons. We use Gateways to connect to Beacons and provide their locations in AuctionTrac. If your Gateway fails, Beacons may not correctly report their locations.

Notes:

  • Gateways are sometimes referred to with terms like PoE or Power over Ethernet

  • The number of gateways depends on your lot size


Troubleshooting Gateway Issues

  • If the auction has a total loss of power, wait until power is restored.

  • If the auction does have power, verify if the issue is local to just your auction.

  • Verify that the Gateway is still connected to its power source.

  • Verify the Gateway Injector is plugged in and lights appear on the gateway.

  • Verify the ethernet cables are connected to the gateway's Data Out port.

  • If the Gateway is showing as disconnected, unplug the power cable from the Gateway, wait 30 seconds, and plug the power cable back in again.

  • If none of the above worked, there may be other power issues. Contact a certified electrical contractor.


Indicators

This section describes possible lighting colors for the POE:

AC LED

Behavior

Off

Indicates the power is off

Green

Indicates the power is on

Port LED

Behavior

Off

No detection or disconnected or no load is connected

Yellow - Solid

Power supplied over data or spare

Green - Solid

Power supplied over data & spare pairs together

Yellow - Blinking

Over current or short circuit condition at one pair. This may be either data or spare (PD or cable fault). The other pair is off.

Yellow & Green - Blinking 1Hz

Over current or short circuit condition at one or both data or spare pairs (PD or cable fault).

Yellow & Green - Blinking 4Hz
