Error: We think someone may have tried to access your account without permission. For your protection, you won't be able to create or modify ads until you authenticate your account in Ads Manager. Your existing ads will continue to run normally.

If you’ve encountered this message while launching ads, you’re not alone

This is due to a ongoing bug on Meta’s side as of March 2026.

You may see this restriction applied by Facebook as part of a security protection designed to prevent unauthorised ad creation.

Unfortunately, due to a known limitation from Meta, the authentication prompt does not always appear reliably in Ads Manager. Please follow the methods below, recommended by Meta, to resolve the issue.

How to fix this?

Quickly troubleshoot the issue by following the methods below.

Method 1:

  1. Go to your main dashboard in Meta Ads Manager https://adsmanager.facebook.com/adsmanager/manage/campaigns

  2. Open an ad within Campaign → Ad Set → Ad

  3. Look at the top-right corner of the page

  4. You should see the same error — but now with a “Start Authentication” button

Facebook ads authentication issue with email?

(This banner may only appear when you are viewing the ad directly)

  5. Click "Start Authentication" and complete the email verification flow

  6. After that, wait at least 5 minutes. Then return to Adnova, navigate to “Launch Settings” in Ad Launcher, and click “Reconnect Facebook Account.” Complete the authentication flow and try launching the ads again

    Method 2:

  1. Go to Ads Manager in a desktop web browser using this [Link]

  2. Try editing any existing ad (e.g., change the ad name)

  3. Wait for "Verifying your edits" to complete at the bottom of the screen

  4. The authentication card should appear - complete the email or SMS verification

  5. Important: After completing verification, wait at least 5 minutes before retrying ad launching through adnova

  6. If the card does not appear, try clearing your browser cookies and repeating the steps in a fresh session

Method 3:

  1. Go to: http://business.facebook.com/adsmanager to open your Ads Manager.

  2. Ensure you're logged in to the ad account you want to use.

  3. Go to your Ad Account

  4. In your Ads Manager, click on the sidebar

  5. Click on "Billing and payments"

  6. After you open your ad account, click on "Start Authentication".

  7. Add your email address. Click on "Send Code". Open your email inbox to copy the code and paste it.

  8. After that, please return to adnova then try launching ads.

TLDR:

  • Edit any ad and try changing the link or ad copy and hit save. That will trigger the authentication process.

  • Open your billing page to view a banner to trigger the authentication process.

  • Last case scenario is changing your Facebook password to reset your authentication and re-authenticating it.
