Thiamis needs very little routine maintenance. Firmware updates happen automatically, so most care comes down to protecting the unit from the elements and keeping cables and connections in good condition.
Protect it from the weather
Keep Thiamis inside a weatherproof enclosure for outdoor deployments. Aethair offers the Aethair Node Enclosure for outdoor deployments. Contact Sales for more information.
Check cables and connectors
Loose or damaged cables are a common cause of reporting issues. Check these regularly, and every time you redeploy:
SDI-12 PWR and RS-485 Euroblock connectors: wires fully seated, terminal screws tight
RS-232, USB-C, and sensor cables: connectors fully seated, with no bent pins or frayed cable
Splitter cables: label each sensor’s letter port (A, B, C) so it’s easy to reconnect correctly. See Thiamis Ports, Cables & Connections.
External antennas (if installed): attached and tight.
Strain relief: secure cables so their weight doesn’t pull on the connectors
Replace damaged cables rather than repairing them. If you reseat or replace a cable, power cycle the Thiamis afterward.
Cleaning
Disconnect power.
Wipe the enclosure with a dry microfiber cloth.
If the ports are dusty, use short bursts of compressed air across the openings, not straight into them. Hold the can upright so no liquid propellant sprays out, and let the ports dry fully before you reconnect power.
Don’t use water, cleaning solutions, or solvents.
When to contact support
Contact Aethair Support if the enclosure is damaged, liquid has gotten inside, or the Thiamis won’t power on. Don’t open the enclosure or modify the hardware.
