Overview
The Connect module enables law firms to synchronize time and billing data with LawPay Link. This integration allows you to accept payments and automatically post them back to your matter management system.
Implementation Requirement: This setup requires the installation of a web service and the execution of a stored procedure script. For detailed instructions, please review our installation guides.
Key Posting Rules
Source Restriction: Only payments originating directly through the Connect module can be automatically posted.
Manual Entry Required: Payments processed via Enter Payments, Payment Schedules, or the Send For Payment Quick Link will appear in the Payment Manager but not in the Manage Postings section. These must be manually added to your matter management system.
Payment Pages: These can only be posted if the create a posting record checkbox was selected during the payment page setup.
Tip: In any view, a person icon on the left indicates a payment created via a payment page.
The Posting Process
Once items are moved from the Pending bucket to Posted:
The system creates text files and stores them in a designated folder on your server.
Your matter management software retrieves these files via a receipt posting process.
Timing: It may take up to 10 minutes for files to transfer.
Finalization: Depending on your specific integration, you may need to run a credit upload process within your software to finalize the batch.
Understanding Transaction Views
All approved Connect transactions are organized into seven default views:
View | Description |
Pending/Incomplete | A combined view of all approved transactions awaiting action. Items with a red box require attention. |
Pending | Approved transactions ready to be posted to your matter management system. |
Incomplete | Transactions with data conflicts (e.g., invalid or multiple invoice numbers) that must be resolved. |
Posted | Transactions successfully sent to your matter management software. |
Removed | Transactions handled manually outside the integration; no further action required. |
Queued | Transactions currently in transit (up to 10 minutes) after clicking "Post Selected." |
All (Read Only) | A comprehensive reporting view; transactions cannot be edited or posted here. |
How to Resolve Data Conflicts (Reallocating)
If a transaction appears with a red box, follow these steps:
Click the Edit Posting Record button.
Select Reallocate Payment to search for the correct payment or account.
OR select Remove to move it to the Removed view and update your matter management software manually.
Available Actions
Post Selected: Sends specific items to your management software (moves them to Posted).
Post All: Processes all transactions across all pages simultaneously.
Remove Posts: Moves items to the Removed bucket if you have already accounted for them manually.
Move to Pending: (Available in Removed view) Restores an item to the Pending view if you decide to post it via the integration.
Export to Excel: Downloads your data into a spreadsheet for reconciliation or custom reporting.
