Each Housing Authority administers vouchers within a specific geographic area. Program participants are restricted to housing within the area serviced by the Housing Authority administering their voucher. Before entering into a contract with owners, Housing Authorities must ensure the unit meets the minimum housing standards set by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
