Checkout upsells, post-purchase upsells, and thank you page upsells all have access to this setting. This ensures that the discount percentage you’re offering remains consistent while appearing larger if the item has a compare at price.

Here’s an example of the difference when the setting is enabled versus when it’s disabled.

Imagine you have a product called the "Hat" in your store and It's priced at $40, with a compare at price of $60:

Your upsell offers this product at a 20% discount, lowering the price to $32 instead of the original $40:

When enabled

When "Use Compare at Price" setting is enabled, the displayed discount now shows "Save 47%" The crossed-out price reflects the compare at price of the product rather than the original price.

When disabled

When the "Use Compare at Price" setting is disabled, the displayed discount will read "Save 20%." The crossed-out price will reflect the original product price rather than the compare at price:

If we do the math, the difference between the compare at price of $40 and the discounted price of $32 is approximately 20%

In summary, activating this setting greatly boosts the perceived value of your discounts. By showcasing a larger discount when a compare at price is established, you can provide a smaller discount while still giving the impression of a significant deal. This approach not only draws in customers but also has the potential to enhance conversion rates, positively impacting your bottom line.
