This article outlines the steps for setting up the Nosto integration.

Nosto is an alternative product recommendation engine utilized by more than 2,500 merchants, which can be integrated with your Automatic Upsells. AfterSell can connect to your Nosto account and leverage their algorithm for product recommendations.

We suggest visiting their website if you have any inquiries regarding the product recommendation algorithm they employ.

Steps to setup the integration

If you're interested, you’ll need to follow the steps below to set up Nosto through AfterSell. We also have a video below that outlines the steps:

  1. Search for Nosto in the Shopify App Store and install the app.

  2. Navigate to the "Settings" section of the Nosto app, then click on "Authentication Tokens."

    • If you don't see any API tokens, you'll need to reach out to Nosto Support to obtain one before proceeding.

  3. After you obtain the API token, click the blue "Decrypt" button:

    This will open a window displaying the API key. Ensure you click "Copy to Clipboard" to copy the API key, and remember to keep it private.

  4. Now that you have the API key, return to AfterSell and navigate to the "Settings" tab on the left side of the app. Then, go to the Automatic Upsells section.

  5. Ensure that "Nosto" is selected as your Product Recommendations app and that you have pasted the API token from earlier into the Nosto API key field:

  6. Save your changes, and Nosto is now connected. Next, we need to set up some Automatic Upsells for it to utilize.

  7. Go to the funnel editor and create an Automatic Upsell.

    • You can choose to create either a single Automatic Upsell or multiple; there’s no limit to how many you can set up.

  8. If you’re ready to test it out, ensure that the funnel with your Automatic Upsells is active. Once it’s active, place an order on your store that meets the funnel's trigger requirements. This will enable you to check if the product recommendations are functioning correctly.

    • If you recently installed Nosto, we recommend waiting a few hours to allow its product recommendation algorithm to activate on your store. Otherwise, it may not yet have recommendations for your customers.
