Managing your pages through Meta Business Manager

Updated this week

Many Facebook pages are managed using Meta Business Manager. Meta Business Manager can be a great way to manage multiple Facebook pages and Instagram accounts in one place.

Whether you're managing your own business pages or handling them for a client, this article provides best practices to help you efficiently connect and manage these pages with Agorapulse.

How to access Meta Business Manager

To access your Business Manager, start by going to the Facebook Business Settings page. This will open the list of all Business Managers you have access to, as you may be a member of multiple Business Accounts. Click on the Business Manager who owns the relevant Facebook page.

Note: If you do not see the Business Manager you are looking for, this means that you do not have the permissions required. You will need to ask someone with Full control over the Business account to add you to the business manager, update your permissions, or connect the page themselves.

Alternatively, if you are viewing the Business Suite for the page, click on Settings in the bottom left corner. This will open Meta Business Suite.

Clicking on the Help option, beneath the settings icon, will let you switch to Business Manager.

If you don't see the Settings option here, this suggests you don't have access to the Business Manager that owns this page.

Check your role/page access

If the Facebook page is connected to a Business Manager you own or are a member of, we recommend that you have Full control over the Business account and page.

If the Facebook page is connected to your clients' Business Manager, we recommend that you have Partner access to their Business Manager as well as Full control over the page. That way, you don’t have to keep going back to the client if you need more access, and you can easily handle token renewals directly from within Agorapulse.

Full Control over the Business account

In the Business Manager, click on People in the menu on the left and make sure you can see Full control next to your name.

If you see Partial access next to your name, you will need to reach out to someone else with Full Control to change your role.

Full Control over the Facebook page

In the Business Manager, click on Pages in the menu on the left, and from here, click on the Page you want to check your role on.

Click on your name and make sure Full control - Everything is toggled on.

Once you have confirmed that you have Full control of the page and Business account, you will now be able to add the Facebook page to Agorapulse.

Note: If you do not see the page you are looking for, this means the Page is not yet an asset of this Business Manager account. You can learn more about this here.

Partner Access to the Business Manager

Whether your client does or does not use Business Manager for the pages, we'll show you best practices for managing all pages via Business Manager.

If your client uses Business Manager

Your client should give you partner access to business assets in Meta Business Manager. Refer to this Facebook article for more details. This process will allow your client to share Facebook pages and Instagram accounts with you. We suggest sharing these steps with your client.

To be added as partners to your client's business portfolio in Business Manager, your client will need to:

  1. In the Business Manager, below Users in the menu on the left side, click Partners.

  2. Click Add, and select Give a partner access to your assets.

  3. Enter your partner's business ID. Click Next.

  4. Choose the business assets you want to assign to your partner. For each asset, you must assign them Full control. Assigning partial access may limit the actions that can be taken when the Facebook page is connected to a third-party tool, like Agorapulse.

  5. Click Save changes.

Now that you have partner access to these business assets, you will need to assign these assets to your team with Full control before you can connect these profiles to Agorapulse.

To assign assets to your team, you will need to:

  1. In the Business Manager, below Users in the left-side menu, click People.

  2. Select the name of the user that they would like to assign these assets to

  3. Click Assign assets

  4. Choose the business assets you want to assign to this user. For each asset, you must first assign them Partial Access since Full control is initially greyed out.
Note: If you are assigning an ad account, Full control will be toggleable from the ad account section.

  5. Click Assign assets

  6. Once the asset is assigned, click on Manage next to the profile

  7. Toggle on Full control

  8. Click Save

If your client does not use Business Manager

If your client doesn't use Business Manager to manage their pages, you can request to add their pages/assets to your own Business Manager account.

You can request access to a Facebook page by:

  1. In the Business Manager, below Accounts in the menu on the left side, click Pages

  2. Click Add and select Request access to a Page

  3. Enter the page's URL and click Next

  4. Toggle on Full control and click Next

  5. Click Done to request access

The page owner will then receive a notification. Once they have approved this request, you will be able to assign access to this page.
