What is Mirror

Mirror is a medical AI note-taker to help patients remember and act on information from consultations. It is developed by Aide Health, a UK health technology company working with the NHS since 2022.

Mirror listens during medical consultations and then provides a clear, plain-English summary for the patient to refer back to.

Information governance

  • Patients in the UK have the legal right to record their own consultations for personal use. Unlike covert recordings, Mirror is designed with governance in mind and offers a more secure, transparent alternative.

  • Audio recordings are encrypted during processing and deleted immediately after the summary is created.

  • Mirror does not constitute an “official record” and does not replace clinician notes.

  • Clinicians remain fully responsible for their clinical documentation and decisions.

  • Aide Health is independently assessed and meets NHS governance and standards of data and cybersecurity, including the NHS Digital Toolkit, Cyber Essentials Plus, DPIA and DTAC.

Benefits to clinicians

  • Patients retain more of what is discussed, reducing misunderstandings and repeated queries.

  • Improved medicine adherence and engagement with care plans may reduce avoidable complications and re-attendance.

  • Mirror complements your consultation without changing your workflow.
