How to Verify Your Website Domain URL with Facebook, or Share it if it has already been verified.
Updated over 6 months ago

This is a one-off requirement to enable Facebook ads to land on your website and is a new requirement from Facebook. Verification is Facebook’s way of knowing you control the domain and are therefore authorized to have ads land on your website. Note there are 3 options explained in this document, so take a moment to review and choose the one you prefer.

Do this if your Domain has NOT been verified with Facebook & you would like Campaigntrack to Verify it for you:

  • Select the correct Facebook Company from the drop-down on the top-left.

  • Select Brand Safety, and then Domains
You will see a list of domains you have access to (or that you would like to, but aren't verified) here, along with their verification status. Note that if a domain has been shared with you, you will see it here, but you won't be able to share it. If the domain was verified under this facebook account then you will also have the ability to share with other ad agencies, the company, etc.

  • Click 'Add' then enter the domain with no HTTP, and no www. (eg: http://ExampleAgency.com.au )

  • Once you have added the domain, you will see a new panel that displays one of 3 methods you can use to verify... One being to add code into the <head> of the site HTML, the second being to add an HTML page to the site, and the 3rd to add a TXT record to the DNS management for the site. Pick a method, or let the client do this (see the cut and paste email you can send the client below).

  • Once you are confident the verification code is in place (if using DNS, you might need to wait an hour for the records to propagate), click VERIFY to ask Facebook to check if the code is present. If it is found, you will be told the site is verified and you will be good to go. Sometimes you may have issues with a specific method, so if you do, try another of the 3 methods.

  • If Facebook is able to Verify, you will see a message indicating this, and the left-hand column will say ‘verified’

  • Goto https://business.facebook.com/settings/owned-domains, select the domain you own and have verified from the list in the middle panel.

  • Click on ‘Partners’ tab and then ‘Assign Partners’. In the popup, you need to enter this partner ID and click ‘Next’: 1474884335863842

Do this if your Domain HAS been verified with Facebook & you would like to share with Campaigntrack:

Refer to the section above, but skip to Step 8.

Do this if you would like Campaigntrack to verify your domain for you:

In order to do this, we need you to ask your website administrator to do one of two things to allow Facebook to verify your site. This involves a simple process of adding some code to your website or adding an entry to your website DNS records. None of this is hard for a website admin.
Please note that the example code below is just an example, and Campaigntrack will provide you with the code and DNS text specific to your website. If you use the below example code it won’t work.

Option 1: Adding code to your site <head>

Ask your website admin to add this code to the header, as early as possible:

>>>> this needs to be replaced for each client as the code is unique and comes from your Facebook BM...

<meta name="facebook-domain-verification" content="6t6fl8rsz4v0dee647tbgz4rdgv6uo" />

Option 2: Adding a TXT record to your site DNS

Ask your website admin to add this TXT record to your DNS with the Host set to @

>>>> this needs to be replaced for each client as the code is unique and comes from your Facebook BM...

facebook-domain-verification=6t6fl8rsz4v0dee647tbgz4rdgv6uo
