[ overview ]

To use this feature, all of the following conditions must be met:

  • You have purchased and applied one of the Check-in Lite / Pro / Premium plans to the property.

  • You have purchased the Payment Solution Integration and linked a payment account (Stripe or fincode by GMO) to the property.

By setting up a security deposit, you can securely hold the guest’s credit card information with their consent.

This allows you to charge the guest for issues or unpaid costs such as the following:

  • Damages / Incidents
Repair or replacement costs if the guest causes damage to the room or property (e.g., broken, lost, or stolen items, damage to facilities, etc.).

  • Additional Charges
Any extra fees incurred during the stay (e.g., minibar usage, unauthorized extensions).
Even if unpaid charges are discovered after checkout, they can be properly settled.

[ detail ]

Where to set it

[Admin Console] > [Property List] Select a property > [Check-in Settings] > [Common Settings] > [Security Deposit Amount]

Set the Security Deposit Amount

Click [Setting the Security Deposit Amount] to configure the amount.

  • The security deposit can be set between $0 and $99,999,999.

  • Choose whether the set amount applies [All NIghts] or [Per Night].

For apartment-type properties (1 room inventory) / when applying the same security deposit to all room type:

  • How to set the deposit: Select [Apply to All Room Type].

For hotel-type properties, when setting different security deposit amounts for each room type:

  • How to set the deposit: Select [Each Room Type] → A setting field for each room type will be displayed.

Setting the Security Deposit in the Pre Check-in / Check-in Flow

Within the Pre Check-in Flow or Check-in Flow (you may configure either, or both):

  1. Set [Payment Collection] to ON.

  2. Then go to [Which should be collected?] > turn [Security Deposit] ON.

⚠️ Once the Security Deposit setting is enabled, all guests will be required to pay the deposit.

There is option to exempt specific reservations from the deposit.

Display on the Guest Screen

Credit Card Information Registration Screen

Based on the previous settings, during the Pre Check-in Flow or Check-in Flow, the system will automatically prompt guests to:

  • Review the security deposit amount, and

  • Enter their credit card information.

Guests cannot proceed to the next page unless they input their credit card details and click the “Register” button.

💡 If the guest has already made a payment by card through the guest page (e.g., for outstanding balances or POS service payments), they will be given the option to either:

  • Use the card already registered, or

  • Register a new card specifically for the security deposit.

Registration Completion Screen

As soon as the credit card is registered, an authorization (credit check) is performed on the card.

If there are no issues with the card, the system will proceed to the completion screen.

💡 The security deposit amount you set will not be automatically charged to the guest’s card.

Through authorization (credit check), the system verifies:

  • Whether there are any issues with the registered card (e.g., validity of card information, whether the card has expired).

  • Whether the set security deposit amount can be processed (e.g., ensuring it does not exceed the card’s usage limit).

Note: Depending on the credit card type, the authorization may trigger a transaction record or a billing notification email to be sent to the guest.

▼You can also confirm from the management screen of the payment solution partner that authorization (credit) is performed once at the time of registration and no capture (charge) is performed.

Charging the Guest for the Security Deposit

To learn how to charge guests the security deposit you set, please refer to the help below:

About Authorization Release

The security deposit authorization will be automatically cancelled immediately if the reservation is cancelled, or three days after the check-out date if the reservation is not cancelled.
