Risk of double booking (duplicate reservations)
New reservations from OTAs and inventory updates to other OTAs are not synchronized in real time. Instead, synchronization occurs at regular intervals, which means there may be a delay before changes are reflected. This behavior is not unique to AirHost and is common among other channel managers as well.
The reservation retrieval interval for each OTA is shown in the table above. If reservations are confirmed on different OTAs within the same synchronization interval, a double booking may occur.
Please note: During the scheduled synchronization window (approximately 4:00 AM – 7:00 AM JST), system load is higher than usual. As a result, reservation imports may be delayed depending on the OTA's synchronization method.
Jalan: Due to Jalan's reservation import mechanism, reservations may be imported up to 1–2 hours after they are confirmed.
Rakuten Travel: Rakuten Travel uses a similar import method, but delays are typically within 30 minutes.
Other OTAs: Depending on the OTA's API response time and service status, reservation imports may be delayed by a few minutes.
These delays are part of the normal synchronization process. Reservations will be imported automatically once synchronization is completed.
However, if a reservation is confirmed on another OTA while synchronization is still pending, a double booking may occur. As this is an inherent limitation of the synchronization process, AirHost cannot provide compensation for any double bookings resulting from these delays. We appreciate your understanding.
During periods of exceptionally high booking volume—such as year-end holidays, public holidays, or major local events—the risk of double bookings may increase. To reduce this risk, we recommend taking preventive measures, such as:
Keeping one room out of inventory as a buffer, or
Limiting the number of OTAs on which the property is available for booking.
