What is the refund rate

Updated over 6 months ago

You would typically receive 50% more refund with us relative to getting your refund from the retailer that sold you the goods, especially in the case of smaller value purchases.

Your refund will be paid directly into your account without any hidden charges, payment commissions, or currency conversion mark-ups from us.

Our typical customer gets on average €160 of tax backπŸ‘

Percentage of VAT refunded

Refund as a percentage of the goods purchase price

80%

13.33%

Note that the 20% VAT rate is applied to the goods price before tax, which means that the VAT represents only 16,66% of the full price (i.e. VAT included price) that you pay in store.

For example, if you buy something for €100 in a shop, the tax amount will equal €16.66 rather than €20 as commonly mistaken. Hence if you use Airvat in this case, you will receive 80% of the €16.66 VAT amount, which is €13.33.

The difference between the €16.66 VAT amount and your €13.33 refund is our commission fee, which allows us to offer the service.
