Yes, you can transfer most types of UK pensions into a an AJ Bell SIPP, and it's free to do this with us.

To start your transfer, you'll need to log in via the AJ Bell website and open a SIPP if you haven't already done this. This'll take less than ten minutes and, during the application, you’ll be able to enter the details of any pension(s) you want to transfer into your SIPP.

If you already have a SIPP, you can start the transfer process by logging in via the website and from the ‘My account’ menu, choosing ‘Transfers’. Then enter the details of the pension(s) you want to transfer.

Once we’ve received the details we need, we’ll handle the rest of the admin from there, letting you know if there are any hiccups. Want to check the progress of your transfer? Just return to the 'Transfers' page to see its current status.

Things to consider before transferring your pension

- Can the investments in your pension be held in an AJ Bell SIPP? You can check what you can transfer to us on our investment options page.

- If you sell your investments so you can transfer in cash, you'll be out of the market while the transfer takes place. That means you won't be affected by any rises or falls.

- If you’re transferring a different type of pension scheme into a SIPP – such as a workplace pension – you may lose valuable benefits. We suggest you seek professional advice to ensure that transferring is right for you.

- If you your life expectancy may be two years or less, transferring a pension now could make it subject to inheritance tax when you die. It's best to seek suitable financial advice if you think this might apply to you.

There’s much more information about transferring on our transfer to us page.

And if you're in need of financial advice, you can search for a suitably qualified adviser on websites including VouchedFor.co.uk, moneyhelper.org.uk and Unbiased.co.uk.
