Configuring Payout Schedules and Understanding Timings in Stripe

Stripe offers flexible options for managing payouts (previously referred to as deposits) tailored to your financial needs. This guide explains how to configure and understand key aspects of Stripe payouts, including schedule options and timing.

Understanding Payout Terminology

Stripe refers to 'deposits' as 'payouts.' These payouts represent the transfer of funds from Stripe to your configured bank account. Available payout frequencies include:

  • Daily

  • Weekly

  • Monthly

How to Set Up Your Payout (Deposit) Schedule

To configure your payout schedule in Stripe:

  1. Log in to your Stripe Dashboard.

  2. Navigate to Settings by clicking the gear icon.

  3. Select Bank accounts and scheduling.

  4. Choose your preferred payout frequency: - Daily - Weekly - Monthly

Once chosen, this scheduling applies automatically and does not require daily re-confirmation. For those opting for daily payouts, this automation ensures that your funds are disbursed daily by default.

Understanding Initial and Regular Payout Timings

  1. Initial Payout Delays: - When setting up a new bank account in Stripe, your initial payout may take 7–10 business days to complete. This accounts for the necessary bank account verification processes.

  2. Post-Setup Daily Payouts: - After the verification stage, daily payouts operate on a 2-day rolling basis. For example, a payment processed on Monday will appear in your account by Wednesday. This rolling schedule guarantees consistency without needing user intervention.

Additional FAQ

Are daily payouts truly automated?

Yes. If you select "automatic daily payouts," the system schedules and completes the deposit transfers automatically without requiring additional input from you.

By following the above steps and guidelines, managing your Stripe payouts will become a streamlined and efficient process.
