Ask Alayna is the first of four components within Alayna’s Copilot. This is where teachers can chat with AI to brainstorm ideas, get explanations, and get help with various teaching tasks. Ask Alayna provides an intuitive interface for educators, making it easy to enhance their teaching methods.

Easy-To-Use Chat

Think of this as chatting with a helpful friend. Alayna’s chat interface is designed to be straightforward and user-friendly. Just type your questions or requests, and Alayna will provide the information or assistance you need. It's like having a knowledgeable teaching assistant available anytime. Check out our guide for educators on how to write effective AI prompts:

Quick Tools

One of the most common struggles educators face when using tools like ChatGPT is figuring out the best prompts to use. To make things easier, Alayna offers nearly 100 quick tools that provide step-by-step assistance for over 100 teaching tasks, such as creating lesson plans, suggesting accommodations, generating choice boards, and more. These quick tools are like having a personal assistant dedicated to each task:

Web Research Mode

Understanding the limitations of large language models is essential. Our AI tool is powered by a large language model, which has three major limitations:

  1. The content created by the AI is not directly extracted from web sources but generated based on a probability function, which means it may not always be accurate.

  2. It only knows information up to the cutoff date of its training, so it lacks knowledge about current events.

  3. It does not provide citations for where the data comes from.

Our web research mode addresses these limitations by allowing Alayna to:

  1. Access real-time information online.

  2. Utilize third-party sources.

  3. Provide citations to ensure you have the most accurate information.

Here are a few example prompts you can give Alayna in Web Browsing Mode:

"Create a 7th grade lesson plan on fractions using video lessons and practice from Khan Academy."

Alayna will scour Khan Academy, identify the most relevant and high-quality videos/exercises, and synthesize them into a comprehensive lesson plan complete with teacher notes.

"Suggest the latest engaging resources for a debate on climate change suitable for high school students."

Alayna will conduct smart searches, analyze source credibility, and curate a collection of up-to-date articles, interactive multimedia, and discussion prompts to facilitate a substantive climate change debate.

"Find step-by-step examples for solving systems of linear equations, and create 10 practice problems at an Algebra 1 level."

Alayna will first find best-in-class online tutorials, then use that knowledge to generate a set of 10 unique practice problems with worked-through solutions.

Insert Attachments — PDF upload, Google Drive & One Drive integration

Alayna allows you to upload a PDF from your computer or a file from Google Drive or OneDrive (including Google Docs, Slides, and Sheets). From lesson materials to assessments, you can ask our AI to analyze the content, provide feedback, create complementary materials, and more.

For example: Upload a creative assessment and ask Alayna to generate a robust rubric broken down by standards and skills.

Support for Math Notation

Alayna excels at crafting math practice sets and worked examples based on your criteria. Simply describe the concepts and difficulty level, and our AI will create an unlimited number of unique problems with step-by-step solutions!

"Create integration problems that use integration by parts."
