Is there a polite way of telling associates at a fund that you will only meet if a partner is present?

Answer from Michia Rohrssen:
Thanks for reaching out (AssociateName)!

Would love to meet up and see if there's a good fit between our companies.

In the interest of time, it'd be great to get one of the B2B partners in the room so the three of us could all discuss. We're moving to final GP meetings with many of the funds and want to make sure we can fit your process into that timeline.

Let me know how the schedule looks in the next week or two and we'll go from there!

I sent that to every associate and it worked very well

The key is to make them feel important(the THREE of us) and let them save a bit of face by not treating them with total disrespect.

Just one more thing...the tone of the associates reply matters a lot to this email. I had a 100% failure rate with associates that replied "The process is you meet with me first so it will have to be just me" or some sort of annoying variation. But the associates that were super friendly and went out of there way to be helpful even if I only met with them ended up turning into deals.

We closed 3 VC's that started with just associate meetings after I sent that email. But only associates that gave super friendly responses.
