I got a warm intro by a portfolio founder to a general partner and asked me to meet a principal as a first step. Is there anything I can do to still meet with the partner first?

It usually isn't a good sign when a partner punt a meeting to an associate or principal. At this point, it is rude to say no meeting. We just make best of it, and still pitch to the principal or associate.
