What are the best practices in selling IP?

If you are looking for an attorney who works with commercialization of IP, we have in our ecosystem several attorneys who are commercialization minded. One of them is Alan Minsk of Fisher Broyles (Alan.minsk@fisherbroyles.com). He just participated in our panel on IP commercialization. If you have IP that you haven’t documented or differentiated yet and want to figure out if there are opportunities then Seventh.ai can help you at that stage.

Buyers' needs are different. Some might buy it to save engineering time to develop a new product, others might buy it to enter a new market. It might be easier to sell it if you license it, because they would expect you might maintain it and you might want to structure the maintenance fee in the agreement. Think about getting a competing offer (maybe a troll offer) to get some sense of "worst case" outcome, that will give you a decent range to negotiate with.
