Funding Sources and Tracking Accounts

How to connect your accounts to Allio to fund your portfolios and to be tracked by Net Worth Tracker.

Updated over 2 months ago

Allio allows you to link your bank account one of two ways - either as a Funding Source or as a Tracking Account.

Funding Sources

Funding Sources are bank accounts that are connected to Allio to make one-time deposits, fund recurring deposits, and receive deposits when profits from positive gains are sent your way.

At Allio only one funding source can be active at a time. All other accounts will be tracking accounts for expense tracking, budgeting, and Net Worth Tracker.

You’ll be prompted to link your Funding Account when you create your first portfolio, but you can also make a one-time deposit (or set up a recurring deposit) at any time.

At any other time, to add a new funding source, you can tap Profile in the bottom navigation bar. Then, select Funding Source. Alternatively, you can tap Invest in the bottom navigation bar and select Get Started in the Link Bank Account section.

📌 Keep in mind, this navigation menu isn’t displayed in all areas of the Allio app but you can see it from your home dashboard.

Since only one linked account can be designated as a funding source at any given time, you’ll need to remove your existing funding source before you can add a new one or designate one of your tracking accounts to be your new funding source.

Tracking Accounts

Tracking accounts are checking and saving accounts that you connect to Allio, too, but none of these accounts are designated as funding sources.

Tracking accounts give you updated balance information and spending history inside the Allio app. And you can connect Allio to as many of them as you want to track—the more accounts Allio is tracking for you, the more insight [Net-Worth-Tracker, link] will give you.

In Net-Worth-Tracker you can add checking and savings accounts, as well as investment accounts, credit cards, installment loans, and other account types for a holistic view of your assets and liabilities.

Connecting tracking accounts

To connect your tracking accounts to Allio, choose Net-Worth-Tracker from the menu at the top of your screen on the left side. Then, tap Details → from the Net-Worth section toward the top of the next screen. Then, you’re right where you need to be—you’ll see many options on that screen to add savings accounts, credit credits, loans and other account types.

For both funding sources and tracking accounts, we use Plaid to connect your accounts to Allio without the need for you to provide us with any of your account numbers.
