IoT as a solution

I believe that you have come to the AllThingsTalk Cloud with a reason, right? Whether it's about the passion to see what you can do with the platform and explore more about gadgets, or you are looking forward to DO something with those devices. Let me show you why I feel so passionate about the so buzzy-fuzzy IoT.

For over a year and a half, my professional work started to be within Disaster management segment. In first, I didn't know how I will use, let alone create IoT platform in this field. But: my incessant desire was to enter the IoT and make some real stuff. That was the beginning. Nowadays, I have several prototypes related to flood disaster detection and they serve their purpose. I was thrilled with the device I've created, from the very IDEA to the first PROTOTYPE. Nevertheless, I had to admit that there was no help in hardware and platform parts. That's why you are reading this article.

AllThingsTalkt as a provider

AllThingsTalk is a great Cloud platform provider and it will give you everything you need - from support they offer in hardware part (sensors, microcontrollers, other components, etc.) and the IoT Cloud (which is FREE and super-easy to use). With this by your side, you can connect devices in such a short time that I believe you'll want to DO more with it. Let me show what I did with my own WiFi-enabled microcontroller (MCU) and only one sensor for the temperature and humidity.

Event detection

The image below shows how heavy rain had poured down in a matter of seconds.

Now, the further image confirms that humidity had risen immediately, which is clearly a sign of heavy rain. We have to understand that this is recorded in real-time

Why am I showing this to you? The obvious reason is that I wanted to detect a heavy rain event and act accordingly. Today, an actionable information is a golden egg that can:

  • Help saving lives and infrastructure,

  • Protect crops from hailstorm with automated nets,

  • Track your health and improve it accordingly,

  • Detect bad air quality and show data to wide audience,

  • etc...

Would you stand back or DO something?

The number of IoT applications is countless. We don't have to build complex systems to act in a timely manner. The sensor I've built cost around 25 $, but do you see it served its purpose when needed? I could immediately respond to data and do something! Therefore, if you are looking to build IoT solutions, even the simplest ones, let us know. We want to expand the IoT network globally, by supporting you with Hardware, Platform and even with fully-equipped Documentation that you can explore and get engaged with.
