When you delete a user in Aloware who owns contact lists, a reassignment prompt appears before the deletion completes. You can transfer all owned lists to another user, or confirm that the lists should be permanently deleted along with the user.
What happens during deletion
Aloware checks for owned contact lists when you initiate a user deletion. The flow depends on what it finds:
User owns lists, you reassign - Select a new owner from the dropdown. All lists transfer to that user before the deletion completes.
User owns lists, you skip reassignment - A confirmation warning lists all affected lists by name. You must explicitly confirm before proceeding. The lists are permanently deleted.
User owns no lists - The deletion proceeds with no extra steps.
What gets transferred
The reassignment applies to all list types owned by the deleted user. Selecting a new owner transfers the following:
Public and private lists
Static and dynamic lists
Integration lists, with sync mapping preserved
Power Dialer lists
Contact ownership
Contacts, filter criteria, and integration mappings remain intact under the new owner after transfer.
Deleting a user with contact lists
Go to Users and click the delete action for the user.
If the user owns lists, a reassignment dialog appears listing all affected lists.
Select a new owner from the dropdown.
Confirm the transfer and complete the deletion.
Known limitations
My Queue lists are not included in the transfer. This is a known limitation being addressed in a future update.
Restoring a deleted contact does not restore that contact's list membership.
Practical configuration example
This example shows how a team lead offboards a departing sales rep who owns several active lists.
Scenario: A 10-person sales team is removing a rep who owns three Power Dialer lists and two private static lists used for ongoing outreach campaigns.
Step 1: Initiate the deletion
Go to Settings > Users, locate the rep, and click the delete action. The reassignment dialog opens and lists all five affected lists by name, giving you a chance to confirm scope before deciding.
Step 2: Select a new owner
Choose the team lead or another active rep from the owner dropdown. Assigning to a team lead keeps the lists accessible to the whole team rather than tied to a single rep's account.
Step 3: Confirm the transfer
Click to confirm. All five lists, including Power Dialer lists and integration sync mappings, move to the new owner intact.
Step 4: Complete the deletion
The user is removed. The new owner sees all transferred lists in their account and can continue or redistribute the campaigns from there.
