Understanding Campaign Source Types in Alsona
When you create a campaign in Alsona, you’ll be asked to choose a source type - this tells Alsona where your lead list is coming from.
Each source works a little differently, so here’s what each one means and when to use it.
1. LinkedIn Search URL
What it is:
This option is for when you’ve done a people search directly on LinkedIn or Sales Navigator — for example, filtering by title, location, or company.
How to use it:
Go to LinkedIn or Sales Navigator.
Perform your search (e.g., “Marketing Directors in SaaS, United States”).
Copy the full URL from your browser’s address bar.
Paste it into Alsona as your campaign source.
Tip:
You can use any LinkedIn or Sales Navigator search URL, including advanced filters like company headcount, geography, or seniority level.
2. LinkedIn Event URL
What it is:
This option lets you target people who are attending, interested in, or hosting a LinkedIn event.
How to use it:
Open the LinkedIn event page.
Copy the event URL (it usually looks like
linkedin.com/events/...).Paste it into Alsona.
Tip:
Event audiences tend to be highly engaged — great for outreach around shared interests or timely topics.
3. LinkedIn Group URL
What it is:
Use this when you want to source leads from a LinkedIn group — a community of professionals with shared interests.
How to use it:
Visit the group page on LinkedIn.
Copy the group’s URL.
Paste it into Alsona.
Tip:
Targeting by group can be powerful for niche audiences — e.g., “B2B SaaS Founders” or “Recruiters in Tech.”
4. From Existing Campaign
What it is:
This pulls leads from a previous Alsona campaign you’ve already created.
How to use it:
Select the existing campaign you want to source from.
In the Advanced Filtering section, choose whether to include or exclude profiles already contacted.
Important:
If you want to include everyone — even those who were already reached — make sure to check “Include locked profiles.”
Tip:
Perfect for cloning successful campaigns or retargeting previously contacted leads with new messaging.
5. Import Profiles (CSV Upload)
What it is:
This option lets you upload a CSV file with your own list of prospects.
How to use it:
Prepare your CSV file with columns containing:
LinkedIn profile URLs (
https://linkedin.com/in/...)and/or email addresses
Upload it directly into Alsona.
Tip:
Ideal for using data from external sources (e.g., list builders, CRM exports, or manual research).
Best Practices
Always double-check that your URLs start with
https://linkedin.com/…before uploading.Use meaningful campaign names so you can easily find them later.
Combine sources strategically — for example, start with a LinkedIn search, then import event attendees to expand your reach.
