How to use Alva's assessments with Teamtailor

Learn how to send out Alva's tests and review results in Teamtailor

To get started using Alva with Teamtailor, you can read the below article, or you can watch this brief video that takes you through the basic steps:

To use Alva, the first step is to add an Alva trigger to your recruitment process in Teamtailor. We recommend adding Alva's assessments as early as possible to the process. This will help you decrease biases and start hiring based on actual predictors of success on the job. You can read more about our recommended recruitment process HERE.


Configure Triggers on Job positions in Teamtailor

  1. Head over to one of your jobs on Teamtailor. From the applications view, you should click on "Triggers"

2. Select the stage that you want users to receive the assessments. Candidates that are moved in to this stage will get the invite for the selected assessments. You can either use the assessments on the Inbox, so all candidates are automatically sent the assessments, or a special stage that you move candidates to.


3. Choose the "Send Alva Labs assessments" on add Trigger.

From here, you can select the test profile that you would like to use for this position. You can read more about Alva's test profiles HERE.


Note that if you do not select a test profile from this stage, your organisations default profile will be used.

Lastly, press the "Add Trigger" Button. If you want to automatically move candidates between stages based on their results, tick the check-box "Move candidate when complete" and follow the instructions.


Start using Alva Psychometric tests through Teamtailor

  1. Send out Alva's tests from Teamtailor by moving the candidates to the stage with the Alva trigger.

  2. Change the test profile as needed.
    Option A. Click back into the trigger in Teamtailor, and change the test profile directly in the trigger.
    Option B. Go into Alva and find your job position that automatically has been created when you added the Alva trigger in Teamtailor. The job position in Alva has the same name as in Teamtailor. Click into your job position, then "Settings" and then "Tests". Press change test profile to choose the profile you want to evaluate your candidates against.

  3. Track assessment completion directly in Teamtailor on the candidate page. Candidates who have initiated the assessment process will also be added to the "Manage candidate" tab in Alva.

  4. Review the results by looking at the percentage of role fit directly in Teamtailor and go to Alva for a more detailed view that can be found in the "Evaluate Candidate" page within your job position in Alva. Read more about how to review the assessment results in Alva HERE


How to configure Alva coding tests for your job position in Teamtailor

If you use both psychometric and coding tests in your hiring pipeline

The first step is to decide at what point you want to send each type of assessment.

You have two options:

  1. Send both psychometric and a coding test at the same time.

  2. First, send psychometric tests, then later a coding test.

An important note: the option to send psychometric tests after a coding test is currently not available. Please reach out to us using the Intercom chat if you need this use case to be supported.

Send both psychometric and a coding test at the same time.

When you configure the Alva trigger, select both "Test profile in Alva" to configure psychometric tests and "Coding Test in Alva" to configure a coding test for your hiring pipeline. Click "Add trigger".

To invite your candidates to take the tests, drag them to the stage with the Alva trigger configured.

First, send psychometric tests, then later a coding test.

In this case, you'll need to add two separate Alva triggers to the corresponding stages of your hiring pipeline.

In stage 1, where you'd like the psychometric tests to be sent to the candidates, only select the desired "Test Profile in Alva".

In stage 2, where you'd like the coding test to be sent out, only select the desired "Coding Test in Alva" and check the "Only send coding test invitation at this stage" checkbox.

If you only use coding tests in your hiring pipeline

To use Alva coding tests without psychometric tests in your hiring pipeline, the first step is to add an Alva trigger to your recruitment process in Teamtailor. Go to the section "Configure Triggers on Job Positions in Teamtailor" in this article and follow steps 1-3.

When the trigger has been added, you can choose a coding challenge from the Alva coding test library in the dropdown list and click Add trigger.

To send out Alva's coding tests from Teamtailor, move the candidates to the stage with the Alva trigger.

An important note: Psychometric tests are always added to the trigger by default. To disable them for a job position, log in to Alva and disable the psychometric tests before adding any candidates.

Tracking coding test results

Similar to our psychometric assessment, you can track coding test completion directly in Teamtailor on the candidate page. Candidates who have initiated the assessment process will also be added to the "Candidate" tab in Alva.

Reviewing coding test results

To review the coding test results, look at the score directly in Teamtailor or click See results and go to Alva for a more detailed view. Read more about how to review the coding tests in Alva HERE.


How to configure Alva Interview Templates for your job position in Teamtailor

To use Alva Interview templates for your position, the first step is to add an Alva trigger to your recruitment process in Teamtailor. Go to section "Configure Triggers on Job positions in Teamtailor" in this article and follow steps 1-3.

When the trigger has been added you can choose an interview template from your Interview template library in the drop down list and click Add trigger. If you would like to add another interview, just add another trigger to the selected stage.

Start using Alva Interview templates through Teamtailor

  1. Enable selected Interview template on the candidate page by moving the candidates to the stage with the Alva trigger.


  2. To start or assign an interview, click “Interview this candidate”, you will be redirected to the candidate page in Alva where you can select to start an interview or assign another interviewer. Don’t forget to publish the scorecard when you are done rating the candidate.


  3. Review the results by looking at the score directly in Teamtailor or click "View results" and go to Alva for a more detailed view. Read more about how to review interview results in Alva
