What does it do?
Linehaul rates can change based on several things like distance, how heavy or what kind of items are being shipped, and even the current market demand. Also, these costs can go up or down due to changes in fuel prices, new rules by governments, or overall changes in the economy.
Alvys now has a feature to make calculating your Linehaul rates easier! You can now choose from different Linehaul rate types when building a load. Here's what's new:
Flat Rate (default): Fixed fee charged for a shipment, no matter the distance, weight, or size.
Distance: Rate is calculated based on how many miles or kilometers the shipment will travel. Just enter the travel distance in the Load details.
Weight: This option lets you calculate the rate based on the total weight (in tons, cwt, pounds, or kilograms). Enter the weight in the Load details.
Volume: For shipments measured by volume (like liquids or grains), you can calculate the rate based on how much space they take up (in gallons, bushels, or liters). Just add the volume in the Load details.
With these new options, you can pick the best way to calculate your Linehaul rates.

Only users with “Edit Customer Rate” permissions enabled can apply and edit linehaul rates and types under the Money Box.

“Flat” is the default Linehaul rate type applied to a new load. If, when creating a load through the New Load form, the Billing Rate is specified, then it is displayed in the Money Box with the linehaul type as “Flat”.

Weight
When the user selects the Linehaul rate type as “Weight”, they will be prompted to enter the appropriate Rate, which will be applied to the Linehaul amount by multiplying by the Load Weight.
Note: Before applying “Weight” as the Linehaul Rate Type, the appropriate Load Weight value and units of measurement under Load details must be specified.
Any change in Load Weight will result in a recalculation of the total Linehaul Amount.
