Description
This document defines the data retention period for aggregated data in Analytics 1.0.
Why?
Analytics 1.0 has huge volumes of data at multiple levels of granularities โ hourly, daily, weekly and yearly. To maintain smooth operations of the system and ensure high uptime for all customers/users, this Data Retention Policy is being implemented.
Data Retention Period
Hourly / Daily (and higher grains) Data - Hourly/Daily (and higher) granularity data (for viewership and ads - across channels and content ) will be retained in aggregated form for Current Year + Full Last Year (or the launch date of the channel - whichever is later). This data will be available through the Analytics 1.0 UI/API/Reports.
Example: For a channel that launched with Amagi in April 2021 : as on a sample date of August 2023, daily and hourly level data from Jan 2022 - Aug-2023 for this channel is available and any data previous to Jan-2022 is not going to be available (via UI/API/Reports).
Requesting Previous Data
Aggregated data (not raw logs) is maintained in deep storage for another 1 year beyond the data retention period mentioned above.
Requests for this data in CSV form can be raised via support request in Amagi Support Portal (Freshdesk) or contacting your account manager/TAM. This CSV will contain the data as it appears in the Reports page with filters set = ALL. This applies to both Ads/Viewership data.
There will be a minimum TAT of 15 days for Amagi to retrieve the data. Retrieving data for older period entails additional charges -please contact your account manager.
Data Deletion Cadence
On Jan 1st of a year, a notification will be sent to all registered users of the product of the deletion exercise to commence from Feb. There will be 1 month of time to download any data as needed for the penultimate-1 year. The same notification will also be put up as a banner inside the Analytics product.
On Feb 1st of a year, entire data of penultimate-1 year will begin to be purged in the Analytics DB and will no longer be available via the Analytics UI/API/Reports.
Ex: On Feb 1st 2024, hourly/daily/weekly/monthly data for full year 2022 will be removed from Analytics. 2023 full year and Jan '24 onwards data is maintained at hourly/daily/weekly/monthly levels of granularity. In this example, a notification will be sent out to all registered users on Jan 1st 2024 to download the year 2022 data.
