Action: The behavior that the devices are going to exhibit, given to each device during the commissioning phase. Actions could also be added later as the use of your space changes.

Action function table (AFT): this table is the sole mechanism for a device to decide how to, and if it should, interact with other devices on a network

Advanced Load Controller (ALC) : an Amatis controller to switch and dim AC (alternating current) powered devices. ALC features on/off as well as 0-10 output. The ALC is able to measure the amount of power passing through the controlled fixture or zone and then uses this information to track energy consumption and detect failed drivers or lamps.

After Hours Occupancy: more aggressive occupancy levels triggered by a schedule after business hours to save even more energy

Amatis App: This is our main app used to commission new sites and manage existing sites. Get started with your Amatis App today - it is accessible on the web at app.amatiscontrols.com or on your iOS or Android

Amatis Border Router (AMBR): a wireless gateway device used to connect the wireless mesh network to the cloud

AMBR app: We integrated this app with the Amatis app to improve user experience. This app is local so that no cloud access is required to do initial commissioning.

BACnet : this communication protocol is for building automation and controls networks. Learn how to integrate it here.

Baseline mode: the return on investment (ROI) changes in total energy, dollars, and C02. This shows the incentive for purchasing the Amatis system

Commissioning: the act of programming and provisioning your devices after installation

Config: device-level access for tech mode users

Constrained application protocol (CoAP): an internet application protocol allowing nodes to communicate with similar protocols

Controllers: any device that responds to triggers and changes the state of a space. For example, changing light levels

Dashboard: This platform allows you to monitor occupancy rates, light levels, and temperature fluctuations. If baseline data is provided prior to adding lighting controls you can compare in total energy, dollars, C02, and percent savings.

Data dictionary: a structure that stores configurated parameters, energy totalizers, and other state parameters. The data dictionary complements the AFT by providing locations for parameters such as high-end trim.

Daylight Harvesting (DLH) : adjust the light level based on incoming sunlight for even more energy savings

DCDIM: an Amatis controller to switch and dim DC (direct current) powered devices

Fade Time: the time you want your lights to fade up or down, similar to ramp rate

Grace Period: an intermediate time between occupied light level and vacant light level during normal hours or after hours that gradually dim a space

High-end trim: helps you define what the highest light level allowed in the space is. So 100% high-end trim, would output 100% light capability of the fixture. Adjust to a lower percentage to set that as the new highest level.

Identify: a specific action that makes the node flash, confirming which device is which in the app

Internet of Things (IoT): the ability to make inanimate objects (Amatis devices) transfer data without human-to-device interaction by creating unique qualifiers for them

Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) : the latest version of internet communication providing an ID and location system to computers in a network and routes traffic

Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4): the 4th version of internet protocol - a core protocol for inter-networking methods

Lighting Controls: ability to manually or automatically customize the level and quality of lights in a space

LinkID : associates a trigger to an action

Local Area Network (LAN): A computer network interconnecting other devices within a specific distance

Location: A physical location represented in our app such as a conference room to allow the customization of commissioning. You will be able to name each location, for example, Mike's Office

Low-end trim: defines the lowest light level to a percentage other than zero - an example of when this applies would be in a parking garage with safety

MAC address: the 12 digits unique identifier located on each device with a QR code. In the Amatis App you will see the last 4 digits

MQTT: machine-to-machine (M2M)/Internet of things connectivity protocol

Multicast: group communication where data is transmitted across a group of devices simultaneously

Node: any device on the wireless mesh, with a radio module inside of it, that is not AMBR - Smart Driver, ALC, Sensor, Switches

Normal Hours Occupancy: the most comfortable occupancy levels triggered by a schedule during working/business hours

Occupancy control (occ): the sensors motion detection within each space to save energy no matter what time

On-change: used to increase the resolution of critical data points by pushing new data when it changes

OTA : over the air update

PAN profile : (personal area network) a group of network parameters made up of a net key, channel and a panID that define a 6LowPAN

Pan Repair: Another way to say rebuilding a mesh network

Ping : Amatis loosely defines ping as a short conversation with a node

Power Hub Driver (PHD): an Amatis supported 3rd party controller

Power Cycle: similar to reboot, but physically unplugging and replugging a device

Project Hub: a Google website embedded into your Amatis app that houses all your project documents and provides a streamlined checklist that ensures critical steps are followed in the commissioning process

Provisioning: a process of preparing and equipping a network to allow it to provide new service to its users

Reboot: restarts all software in the device including the operating system

Scene: a grouping of triggers and actions and it is identified and called by a LinkID

Schedule: specify dates and reoccurrence patterns for changing the settings of your lighting control zones or locations

Sensor: any device that triggers an action, sometimes simply referred to only as a trigger

Site: a physical location where Amatis devices are installed and commissioned. It can have multiple buildings, AMBRs, scenes, and devices but it doesn't have to

Site ID : unique identification for a site. This 3 digit number and/or letters can be found within the app or the dashboard

Skills: things that a device knows how to do - each device has a different skill set, but all the devices of the same type share the same skills - example skills: daylight harvesting

Slider control: allows for direct control of dimming by clicking the slider control toggle in the app

Smart Driver: an Amatis controller that outputs low voltage DC (direct current) to the LED tube or tubes

Soft Reboot: restarts all mesh-related software in the device

Software info (swinfo): this includes the version number, part type and compile-time of the software in each node

Switch control: allows you to work with Amatis physical switches and also enables cloud control of your lights from the Amatis App. You don't need to have a switch to enable switch control.

Sync : save your work and changes to your site

Target Light Level: the light you want to maintain in the space

Tech mode: is the ability for users to access advanced troubleshooting features

Terminal: provides text-based access to the Amatis system in contrast with the mostly graphical nature of the app's user interface - only accessible to company and company users

Test mode: designed to change all of your parameters (to less than a minute) to make occupancy easy to view during commissioning and inspection and will automatically time out

Triggers: causes an action to happen

User: Each user has a different permissions level within our Amatis app and dashboard

0-10 volt dimming: a direct current (DC) voltage varying between 0 and 10 volts

6LoWireless (6Low): the latest in wireless technology, a wireless mesh network, that is lightweight, stateless, and robust allowing devices of all types to interact with each other
