What’s the difference between Artist Teams, Label Teams, and Distributor Teams?

It's all about the data. We know things are always changing in the music industry so it’s important to get your team set up correctly from the start. We have a few different paths for accessing the app depending on an individual’s role type in the music industry and their relationship with Amazon Music. We do this to ensure we’re providing access to the data that each team type has the rights to, no matter how those relationships change over time.

Any distributors or labels who have an official licensed content feed with Amazon Music likely already have an Amazon Music for Artists team established as a vendor team, and just need to be added to the existing team. Reach out to the POC handling the Amazon Music account relationship at your label for more information or contact Amazon Music directly.

Separately, for any labels who go through a distributor to deliver their content to Amazon Music, follow up with your distributor directly for more information on how to get access to Amazon Music for Artists.

As a Record Label, how can I get team access to Amazon Music for Artists?

Label teams are a bit more complex.

Generally, we recommend that the label and distributor work together to collect all the necessary inputs. Creating a label team requires the exact metadata delivered in the DDEX feeds and if these inputs are incorrect or missing then the label team will also be missing songs, albums, or artists all together.

To create a label team, we require the exact match of all [label_name strings] delivered by each distribution partner (up to five) in the DDEX delivery feed. Distributors send this feed to us daily and the combination of different attributes aggregate the artist's data licensed by the Record Label.

Instructions to download and complete request form:

  1. Download the Amazon Music for Artists - Label Team Request Template excel file, attached at the bottom of this page.

    1. Keep the following details in mind when filling out the form:

      1. Only input ONE contact per new label team. Owners/ Admins can add team members through the app once approved.
