"Extension password" is the password that allows you to unlock the Ambire Wallet extension.
It is stored on your local device, must be unique and at least 8 characters long. Make sure it isn't anything easy to guess!
If you forgot your Extension password and want to recover it, check this tutorial.
Setting up a Extension password
The Extension password is mandatory and you will be prompted to create one with the very first account you have imported.
The minimum required length of the password is 8 symbols characters, and we recommend to follow the best practices when you are choosing your Extension password.
Create a strong, secure password, with a unique, random combination of characters, including uppercase/lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. Avoid personal information and common words.
Changing the Extension password
You can change your Extension password at any time, when you are already logged in your Ambire Wallet extension.
Just visit the "Settings" -> "Extension password" menu.
Password Recovery
You can opt-in for email-based Extension password recovery for your Ambire Wallet extension. The recovery procedure is available only for the Extension password, not for any accounts inside the extension.
Recovery is locally enabled and does not upload your password, any key(s), or sensitive information.
To turn it on, open the "Settings" -> "Password Recovery", enter your personal email address and click "Enable".
Please note: Password Recovery works for the specific installation of the extension on which it is enabled. It is completely independent of the enabled Password Recovery on other installations of the extension, whether on the same or different devices.
You can also use the same email to enable Password Recovery on different extension installations, and the feature will continue to work independently for each of them.
