At least 3 weeks before students begin using Amira or teachers begin training, we recommend that you complete this checklist. As you go through this checklist, you may review the Amira Guided Tour and note your questions.
You will refer to the Setup Accounts in Experience Amira as a Student throughout this checklist, so you'll want to pull the article up, now.
Keep in mind that if you are using HMH Ed, teachers and students will not be logging on to https://www.amiratutor.com on a regular basis. You will use that domain throughout this checklist in case you have yet to set up your own accounts in HMH Ed.
Step 1: Ensure your IT setup meets the minimum requirements
Check that your district’s equipment meets the workstation requirements outlined in our System Requirements document, including:
Device and Browser Versions
Headsets
Browser Settings
Network Requirements
Firewall and Content Filter Requirements
Set up student devices using our step-by-step guides:
Step 2: Read a story (Practice) as a student, and check the results
Log into a demo site (https://www.amiratutor.com), and read with Amira as a student.
Select a log in from this Experience Amira as a Student article
Go to http://www.amiratutor.com, and enter the Username and Password
For example, if you wanted to test a login with a kindergarten account, try:
USERNAME: SETUPstudent1
PW: setup123
❗Note: Do not save these credentials to your browser
❗Note: Students launching Amira from HMH Ed will always log in through their district's SSO or https://www.hmhco.com/one
Click Sign In
Click Let's do it
Click Read a story to begin reading the story with regular prosody
❗Note: In real life, students will not be given the option to Take a test (as shown below) when the account is configured for Practice
Amira will end with saying Great work! and will return to the Great to see you screen
❗ Note: Do not close the device or browser immediately after the session ends; this action can interrupt saving the audio files to Amira's servers
If you get an error message or "enable microphone" dialog, refer to What do I do if I see an error message?.
Step 3: Take a Benchmark assessment as a student, and check the results
Now, log into a demo site, and take a Benchmark assessment with Amira as a student.
Select a log in in this Experience Amira as a Student article
Go to http://www.amiratutor.com, and enter the Username and Password
For example, if you wanted to test a login with a kindergarten account, try:

Click Sign In

Click Take a test, and start reading the story with regular prosody and read making errors as students would make
❗ Note: In real life, students will not be given the option to Take a Test as Amira will automatically open the assessment once the student logs in.
Amira will end with saying Great work! and will return to the Great to see you screen
❗ Note: Do not close the device or browser as this action can interrupt saving the audio files to Amira's servers.
Step 4: Check results and reporting in the Teacher Portal/Dashboard
