Folio for Teams supports multiple administrators. This allows you to share admin responsibilities without transferring your subscription.
Role | Who | What |
Team Leader (Super Admin) | Subscription owner | Full admin access + billing management + subscription transfer |
Team Admin | Promoted team members | Full admin access (manage users, team settings, auto-add to timelines) |
Team Member | Regular users | Access to shared timelines and team features |
Only one Super Admin exists per team (the subscription purchaser). You can have unlimited Team Admins.
How do I promote team member to an admin?
Note: to perform this action, make sure you’re either a Super Admin or Team Admin.
Go to My Team
Find the team member you want to promote
Click Promote to Admin next to their name
Review the confirmation message
Click Promote to Admin to confirm
The team member now has Team Admin privileges and will see "Team Admin" next to their role.
What Team Admins can do:
Add and remove team members
Promote other members to Team Admin
Revoke Team Admin rights from other admins
Access and manage team settings
Control Smart Folder creation settings
Get automatically added to timelines (if enabled)
What Team Admins cannot do:
Manage billing or payment methods
Cancel the subscription
Transfer subscription ownership
How do I remove admin rights from a user?
Team Admins can revoke each other's admin rights. Only promote users you trust.
Note: to perform this action, you must be an Admin; you cannot revoke Super Admin rights.
Go to My Team
Find the Team Admin you want to demote
Click Revoke Admin Rights
Review the confirmation message
Click Revoke Admin Rights to confirm
From now on, the user remains on your team as a regular Team Member.
Troubleshooting
I don't see the "Promote to Admin" button
Only Admins see this option. Check your role in My Team. This feature is only available for Folio Team subscriptions.
I can't revoke someone's admin rights
You cannot revoke the Super Admin's rights. The Super Admin is the subscription owner. If you're a Team Member, you don't have permission to manage admin roles.
I need to transfer billing responsibility
Only the Super Admin can transfer the subscription. Contact your Super Admin, or reach out to support@amitree.com.
