What does Amouage mean?

Amouage stands for "the waves of emotions." The name Amouage is conceptual, and it has been carefully selected. Although it sounds French, it is a word constructed from the Arabic term "Amwaj", which means waves, and the French word for love, “Amour".

How did The House of Amouage start?

In 1980, over a decade after the start of its Renaissance, Oman was fast becoming a land of peace, friendship and hospitality. Amouage’s founder, Sayyid Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi had gone to the late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said with a proposition to create an Omani brand that would introduce Oman’s perfume heritage to the world. A brand that will bring to life Oman’s ancient legacy on the Silk Roads, bridging civilizations of Arabia, East Africa, and those to the distant East and West. A brand that will become His Majesty’s gift to the world, and therein Amouage, also known as ‘The Gift of Kings’ was born.
