Collection Folder Settings: Parent/Child Variants

What are Parent/Child Variants?

Variants in Amplifi refer to different versions or options of a product that share a common “parent”. These versions may differ in attributes such as size, color, or dosage, while still belonging to the same product category. For example, a sweatshirt available in various sizes or colors would have each size or color variation categorized as a variant. These are sometimes required when working with platforms like Amazon or Shopify.

Viewing Variants in Amplifi:

  1. To view variants within Amplifi, navigate to the parent product and locate the "Variants" tab.

  2. Here, you'll find a list of all the variants associated with the parent product if applicable. Variants are typically labeled with distinguishing attributes, such as size or color, making it easy to differentiate between them.

Creating Variants:

  1. Variants are typically created during the import process when adding new products.

  2. Users can designate whether a product is a parent or a child variant by specifying the appropriate value in the import sheet. Parent variants serve as the main product category, while child variants represent specific versions or options within that category.

  3. Admin can obtain an import template from the Amplifi Support team, please reach out if this applies to you!

Managing Variant Information:

Each variant within Amplifi can have its own set of unique attributes, images, documents, and other relevant information. This allows users to provide detailed and comprehensive product listings for each variant while maintaining a clear association with its parent product. Whether it's different product images, size charts, or specific product details, variant management in Amplifi offers flexibility and customization options.
