Tired of calculating how much you need to pay your technicians? Well, this can be calculated automatically based on their pay rate.

Once you have chosen the rate type, you need to create a commission profile with a rule that uses the appropriate calculation method. Let’s see what your technicians compensation would be in each pay rate and calculation method.

## Flat Rate

With flat rate, your technicians will get a dollar amount for each invoiced service no matter how much time they spend on it. You can choose one of three calculation methods to calculate technician compensation based on flat rate.

• Money(Flat)

• Money(Split Evenly)

• Money(Percentage)

### Money(Flat)

The Money(Flat) calculation method means that each technician assigned to a service will get a fixed amount of money that does not depend on service quantity, but depends on how many times the service was added to invoice.

For example, you pay \$10 to your technicians for changing oil in your customer’s vehicle.

• If an invoice contains this service with quantity 1 assigned to tech John, then he will earn \$10 commission for this service.

• If an invoice contains this service with quantity 2 assigned to tech John, then he will earn the same \$10 commission for this service.

• If an invoice contains this service with quantity 1 assigned to techs John and Jack, then each of them will earn \$10 commission for this service.

• If an invoice contains this service with quantity 2 assigned to techs John and Jack, then each of them will earn the same \$10 commission for this service.

### Money(Split Evenly)

The Money(Split Evenly) calculation method means that each technician assigned to a service will get an equal share from a fixed amount of money that depends both on service quantity and how many times the service was added to invoice.

For example, you pay \$10 to your technicians for changing oil in your customer’s vehicle.

• If an invoice contains this service with quantity 1 assigned to tech John, then he will earn \$10 commission for this service.

• If an invoice contains this service with quantity 2 assigned to tech John, then he will earn \$20 commission for this service.

• If an invoice contains this service with quantity 1 assigned to techs John and Jack, then each of them will earn \$5 commission for this service.

• If an invoice contains this service with quantity 2 assigned to techs John and Jack, then each of them will earn \$10 commission.

Invoice 2. Money(Split Evenly)

### Money(Percentage)

The Money(Percentage) calculation method means that each technician assigned to a service will get a proportional share from a fixed amount of money that depends both on service quantity and how many times the service was added to invoice.

• If an invoice contains this service with quantity 1 assigned to techs John and Jack with 75:25 split, then John will earn \$7.5 commission and Jack will earn \$2.5 for this service.

• If an invoice contains this service with quantity 2 assigned to techs John and Jack with 75:25 split, then John will earn \$15 commission and Jack will earn \$5 for this service.

## Hourly Rate

You must select the Hourly Rate calculation method, if you want your technicians to get paid based on their hourly rate and time they spend on each invoiced service.

For example, hourly rate of John is \$20 per hour, while Jack’s hourly rate is \$10 per hour.

• If an invoice contains a service assigned to tech John with labor time 1 hour, then he will earn \$20 for this service.

• If an invoice contains a service assigned to tech Jack with labor time 1 hour, then he will earn \$10 for this service.

• If an invoice contains a service assigned to techs John and Jack with even split and labor time 1 hour, then John will earn \$10, while Jack will earn \$5 for this service.

• If an invoice contains a service assigned to techs John and Jack with custom split 75:25 and labor time 1 hour, then John will earn \$15, while Jack will earn \$2.5 for this service.

## Commissions

With commission rate, your technicians will get a percentage from a service amount, work order amount, or invoice amount. You can choose one of two calculation methods to calculate technician compensation based on commission rate.

• Percent(Gross)

• Percent(Net)

### Percent(Gross)

The Percent(Gross) calculation method means that service technicians will get a percent from service, work order, or invoice amount with surcharges, if any.

For example, you pay 10% of service gross amount to your technicians.

• If an invoice contains a service with amount \$100 and surcharge 20% assigned to tech John, then he will earn \$12 commission for this service.

• If an invoice contains a service with amount \$100 and surcharge 20% assigned to techs John and Jack with even split, then each of them will earn \$6 commission for this service.

• If an invoice contains a service with amount \$100 and surcharge 20% assigned to techs John and Jack with custom split 75:25, then John will earn \$9 commission, while Jack will earn \$3 commission.

Invoice 5. Percent(Gross)

### Percent(Net)

The Percent(Net) calculation method means that service technicians will get a percent from service, work order, or invoice amount with surcharges and discounts, if any.

For example, you pay 10% of service net amount to your technicians.

• If an invoice contains a service with amount \$100, surcharge 20%, and discount -50% assigned to tech John, then he will earn \$6 commission for this service.

• If an invoice contains a service with amount \$100, surcharge 20%, and discount -50% assigned to techs John and Jack with even split, then each of them will earn \$3 commission for this service.

• If an invoice contains a service with amount \$100, surcharge 20%, and discount -50% assigned to techs John and Jack with custom split 75:25, then John will earn \$4.5 commission, while Jack will earn \$1.5 commission.

## Tiered Commissions

With tiered commission rate, your technicians will get a higher percentage or a higher dollar amount from a higher invoice amount. You must select the Per Invoice Level rule type and create rule tiers to set up tiered commission rate.

For example, you pay 10% commission if invoice amount is from \$1 to \$500 (Tier 1), and 20% commission if invoice amount is from \$501 to \$1000 (Tier 2).

• If the total amount of an invoice is \$250 and all services are assigned to tech John, then John will earn \$25.

Invoice 7. Tier 1 (Single Tech Assignment)

• If the total amount of an invoice is \$250 and some services are assigned to techs John and Jack, then John and Jack will earn \$25 each.

Invoice 8. Tier 1 (Multiple Techs Assignment)

• If the total amount of an invoice is \$750 and all services are assigned to tech John, then John will earn \$150.

Invoice 9. Tier 2 (Single Assignment)

• If the total amount of an invoice is \$750 and some services are assigned to techs John and Jack, then John and Jack will earn \$150 each.
