Version history for notes

Use the History tab in the viewer sidebar to view previous versions of your notes and recover deleted content.

Updated today

Anara automatically saves previous versions of your notes. Before making major structural changes, or after an AI rewrite you're not sure about, version history lets you compare before and after β€” and recover anything you want to keep.

Opening version history

  1. Open the note you want to review.

  2. In the right sidebar, click the History tab.

If the sidebar is not visible, click the sidebar toggle button in the note toolbar to show it.

Viewing previous versions

The History tab shows a list of saved versions, ordered from most recent to oldest. Each version is labeled with the date and time it was saved.

Click any version to preview what the note looked like at that point. The editor displays the historical version so you can read through it and compare it to your current draft.

Recovering content

To recover content from a previous version:

  • Open the historical version from the History tab.

  • Copy the content you want to recover.

  • Return to the current version and paste it where you need it.

Tip: Version history is especially useful after AI-assisted rewrites. If Quick Edit changed more than you wanted, open the History tab to find the version before the edit and copy back what you need.

Tips

  • Version history saves automatically β€” you do not need to do anything to enable it.

  • Before making major structural changes to a long note, it is worth knowing that the current state is already preserved. You can always come back to it.

  • If you use AI to help you write, version history lets you compare AI-assisted and hand-written versions and decide which you prefer.
