Fractional work, often referred to as fractional employment or fractional roles, involves hiring professionals on a part-time or temporary basis to perform specific roles or functions within an organization. Rather than hiring a full-time employee for a particular position, companies opt for fractional work arrangements to access specialized skills or expertise without the commitment of a full-time hire.
The Hiring Challenge: A Call for Flexibility
Organizations navigating the competitive currents of product design often find themselves grappling with the complexities of assembling a versatile team. Hiring full- time employees for every conceivable skill set becomes not just a challenge but a logistical puzzle. Fractional work presents a solution, offering the flexibility to enlist specialists on a part-time basis. This not only aligns with the variable demands of project timelines but also brings a diverse array of skills to the table without the burdensome overhead.
The landscape of product design is marked by fluctuating demands and evolving consumer preferences. In this environment, agility is not just an assetāit's a prerequisite for success. Fractional work allows organizations to swiftly adapt their teams in response to project phases, ensuring they are always equipped with the right expertise at the right time. This agility positions companies to respond promptly to market shifts and stay ahead in the race for innovation.
The Power of Specialization: Precision at Its Core
Product design is a multifaceted discipline, requiring a nuanced understanding of user experience, aesthetics, and functionality. Fractional workers, often specialists in their domain, bring a laser-like focus to specific aspects of the design process. Whether it's crafting a compelling user interface or envisioning a seamless customer journey, fractional experts inject precision where it matters most, elevating the overall quality of the final product.
If you have decided that our "Small Tasks" and "Projects" tiers were too limiting in their scope of work - we've created a more engaged framework design to help you acheive your goals without a full-time hire.
Our Offering
We've split the offer into (3) distinct roles based on the respective needs your company may be looking for, which are a Senior Designer, Lead Designer, and a Head of Design.
Our prospective framework suggests that we are working on a monthly retainer in two-week sprints, but will certainly accommodate or align with any existing processes.
Senior Designer
Over a two week sprint, expect your journey with a Senior Designer to accommodate Onboarding, a Functional spec meeting, Design to Handoff, a critique, and involvement in a team retro.
Lead Product Designer
Over a two week sprint, expect your journey with a Lead Product Designer to accommodate everything in the Senior Designer tier as well as involvement in a bi-weekly standup and product meetings.
Head of Design
Over a two week sprint, expect your journey with a Head of Design to accommodate everything in the Lead Product Designer journey in addition to developing Quarterly OKR's, collaborating with PM's to create data flow diagrams, and as a bonus - we share our design playbook to help you gain insight on design as a function and how to ultimately gauge its effectiveness.
