Derived factors

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Often you will have components in your mixtures whose choices, concentrations, or volumes are dependent on other components in your mixtures. In Synthace we call these derived factors. They are factors that do not affect your DOE design, but whose levels still vary dependent on the factors and levels chosen in your DOE design. The following tutorials will introduce what derived factors are in more detail, and how they can be used in Synthace.

Numerical derived factors are those whose levels can be calculated from a mathematical formula involving other factors from your DOE design. Learn how you can use Synthace to calculate the values for this type of factor from others in your design.

Categorical derived factors are those whose levels are decided by the choice of level in another categorical factor. Learn how you can use Synthace to pair the values for this type of factor to other categorical factor levels in your design.
