Capture Structured Text and Numeric Data in a Table Question

The Table question type lets users capture repeatable, structured data in a workflow.

Written by Jake Landgraf

The Table question type allows for frontline users to easily capture multiple inputs on one screen. Use it when one question needs multiple entries, such as numeric readings, inspection results, counts, measurements, or itemized observations.

Common use cases

Use a Table question for:

  • Numeric readings: pressure, temperature, voltage, meter readings, hours, weights, or measurements

  • Inspection results: area checked, condition, issue found, action needed

  • Inventory or counts: item, quantity, location, notes

  • Equipment checks: equipment name, reading, status, comments

  • Task tracking: task, owner, completion status, notes

Table limits

A Table question can include:

  • Up to 5 columns

  • Unlimited rows

Users can add as many rows as needed while completing the workflow.

Column types

Each column can be set as Text or Number.

Text allows any entry, including letters, numbers, and symbols.
Use Text for equipment names, locations, conditions, comments, or notes.

Number only allows numeric entries.
Use Number for quantities, readings, measurements, counts, or other values that should not include letters.

Required and skippable

A Table question can be marked as required.

If Skippable is selected, users can skip the question when it does not apply.

Best practices

Keep column labels short and clear. Use Number for values you may want to review or report on later, and use Text for descriptions or context.
