If your organization has a lot of APIs, then you may reach an AWS limit

Error: Max number for method throttle configuration reached for RestApi

Service: ApiGateway

Status Code: 400

If you are receiving this error message in the Apiable Dashboard when you try to work with your APIs on a plan then you need to increase the number of APIs that AWS will let you work with.

Increasing Service Quotas in AWS

To increase the limit you'll need to adjust your Service Quotas.

  1. Log into the AWS Console.

  2. Select the region where your API Gateway exists.

  3. Search for Service Quotas.

  4. Under Manage Quotas - Select a service to view available quotas, select Amazon API Gateway.

  5. Click on the View Quotas button.

Select the entry API Stage throttles in a usage plan. You can see the default is set to a low value of 20.

Click on the button Request increase at account-level.

Enter a new quota value. This number depends on the number of APIs in your gateway. We typically see the value 100 is processed very quickly.

Make the Request.
