Billing Units

How to work with billing units on your API Plan

Updated over 5 months ago

When monetizing your API Product Plans, you can override the billing units you charge your customer.

Default

The default billing unit is: [API] call

By default, we assume you will be charging your customers for each API call that they make.

Use this if you want Apiable to automatically calculate the amount of usage for the current billing period.

Custom Billing Units

In some circumstances, you may wish to change the billing unit for example, you may wish to charge the customer based on the number of credits they have consumed so far this month, or based on the number of seats.

To set up your own billing unit for this plan, simply type the name of the custom unit in the "Billing Unit" field.

The custom billing unit will also be displayed to your customers on the portal under Product > Plans.

Changing the billing unit means that you cannot use Apiable to calculate the number of API calls made by the developer. You must report the usage to Apiable within the billing period.
