Salesforce Troubleshooting: How to show notes?

When you are building an integration with Salesforce, where you want to read or write notes through the Unify API, it can be handy to see the notes within the Salesforce UI.

By default, there are no “Notes” shown on leads/opportunities/... within the Salesforce UI.

Configure Salesforce to show Notes

By following the steps below, we explain how to show the notes within Salesforce.

  • Go to “Object Manager” > Select the desired Object

  • Go to “Page Layouts”

  • Click on “Related Lists”

  • Drag and drop “notes” in the desired section

  • Save

Which will add “Notes” to the “Related” sidebar item:

Opportunities and notes

For “Opportunities”, Salesforce shows “Notes & Attachments” which are “Files” and not “ContentNote”.

  • Goto “Object Manager” > Select the desired Object

  • Goto “Page Layouts”

  • Click on “Related Lists”

  • Drag & Drop “notes” in the desired section

  • Save
